Hair Restoration - PRP
PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) procedures can be provided to address desired collagen formation, or the formation of new blood vessels, specifically to rejuvenate hair follicles that have entered the telogen phase and resulted in hair loss for both men and women. Blood is drawn in the Spa, processed, and injected into the desired area for rejuvenation. Local anesthetic is provided, and patients are able to drive home at the end of the treatment, as no sedation is required during the procedure. Procedures are typically performed every months to achieve the initial results, then semi-annually or annually for maintenance of hair rejuvenation. Please schedule a consultation to see how PRP may be the treatment for you or a family member with hair loss.
A small quantity of blood (60cc) is drawn from the patient into a syringe. This is a relatively small amount compared to blood donations which remove approximately 500cc. The blood is spun in a special centrifuge (according to standard Harvest Techniques) to separate its components (Red Blood Cells, Platelet Rich Plasma, and Plasma). The platelet rich plasma is separated from the rest of the blood and then activated with a small amount of calcium to allow the release of growth factors from the platelets which in turn amplifies the healing process. Following the administration of local anesthesia, PRP is then injected directly into the thinning areas of the scalp.
